France, May, 24th. 1917 Dear Mother: Just a few lines to let you know everything is OK, have not been getting any mail of any account, but I suppose it will come all at once, will get it much quicker when you get the 13th. add. [abbreviated: address] Have been wondering if they have got any definitive news about Arthur, I am sure his people must be in a anxious state, have not seen Lionel for a long time, he is not in the same district lately, We have out of the line for quite a while they expect to go in shortly, but it is rather undecided whether we go in on this front again or move to a new front. The weather has been quite settled the last while with the exceptions of a few showers of rain. (2) A year ago today I was home on pass, do you mind we went to the beach bush, I guess Pa + George are busy putting in the crops. We see here an occasional old man, boy or women out trying to work the land, it sure is comical the different machinery + methods they have compared with the people in Canada. Some of them drive a old horse or mule driven by one line. Uncle Tom got a car eh! That’s what you people should get, everybody around you will be running over you before knowing where you are. Will write soon again. With Love To All Sefton
