Bramshott Camp England July 3rd Dear Mother – Mailed you a letter July 2nd. but didn’t know our present condition, we are now transferred into the 73 Battalion these are Highlanders, so we will have to put on the kilts. This is looked upon as the best Batt. [abbreviated: Battalion] that ever left Canada, all the 77 is being broken up too [area of loss] (2) I guess he will stop in. Some fine big men out of the 77 have been turned down for the slightest drawback such as weak heart or eyes. We were sorry for Arthur, but we tried our best to get him with us, this battalion expects to leave for the front soon, before this they have been sending drafts. There [crossed out: is] are strings of buildings similar to those of the Ott. [abbreviated: Ottawa] exhibition and we are now in one of these which is much better than tents. Tomorrow we expect to go to the range to shoot for about a week. Sunday evening we went over to Hazlemere a nice (3) little town in a motor, the roads seem very strange, they are good but very narrow and both sides lined with hedge or bushes. I told you about the other sports in my other letter in the evening in the horse jumping a [spelling error: an] officer got a bad fall the horse coming on top of him, but wasn’t badly hurt. It is now getting late and want to post this tonight to go in the morning Best love to all Sefton
