Description

This object is a crown patent to Simon Kerrison. It concerns 100 acres of land in a parcel designated as E1/2 Lot 17, Concession 6. It is dated to March 23, 1824. The support is a rectangular piece of paper. The medium is a black printed ink. The fields have been filled in by hand with a black handwritten ink, rendered in cursive. The words "PROVINCE OF UPPER-CANADA" is located at the top center of the front in a larger printed font, in all capital letters. There is an inscription on the back located to the proper left of the center; the text is perpendicular to the body of text on the front. It is badly stained and faded.

This object is significant as it pertains to the distribution of land in the Goulbourn area. It provides names of individuals living within the community. Simon Kerrison was a soldier in the 99th Regiment of Foot (Alias Kenison). Born in Norfolk England.
