Description

This object is the articles of agreement for a land sale between George Lackey and Wilford Cathcart. The document outlines George Lackey as the administrator of the land and estate formerly owned by Avreal Lackey following the passing of the latter. It is dated to September 16, 1926. It concerns a parcel of land designated E1/2 Lot 24 Concession 7. The document is comprised of four rectangular cream colored pieces of paper held together at their proper top right corner with a metal staple. The medium is a black printed ink with a red ink used for decorative elements. A stamp rendered in blue ink and containing four lines of script appears on the reverse of the last page. Signatures are rendered in a handwritten black ink. The first (a), second (b), and third pages (c) contain textual elements and three vertical red lines comprised of smaller parallel red lines. The fourth page (d) is blank on its front. The reverse of the fourth page (d) contains textual elements, as well as the title page for the document which is aligned vertically, with the base of the letters facing the proper left side off the page; this is due to the face this document was intended to be folded up into a brochure shape for transport and storage. There is also a rectangular receipt on a separate piece of paper which has been stapled with a grey metal staple to the reverse of the back page (d). The receipt (e) is dated to October 1926; it indicates $500 was paid from Wilford Cathcart to George Lackey. The receipt's support is made of a cream colored paper which is darker in tone than the primary pages of this object. The receipt's medium is a printed black ink. The fields of the receipt have been filled out in a handwritten black ink rendered in cursive. The receipt is upside-down in relation to the text on the page to which it is stapled. The proper right edge of the receipt is jagged.
