One sepia toned black and white studio photograph of an adult caucasian man. The man is identified as James Stewart, is posed with his body turned slightly towards the left side of the photograph and face turned towards the camera. He is dressed in a dark coloured suit jacket with a crosshatched pattern on the lapel, a white collared shirt and a light coloured necktie with a thin angled consecutive stripe pattern. He has short slightly wavy hair that is neatly arranged and a neatly trimmed mustache. The background of the studio portrait is a neutral colour with no design features evident. The photograph has a circular crop with a light coloured border. On the reverse of the photograph there is a stamp advertising the portrait studio that reads, "J.D. Wallace, Photographer, 56, Sparks Street, Ottawa." In blue coloured ink in the top right corner there is an inscrition that reads, "Ottawa," and below that is a grey coloured graphite inscription that reads, "F-3." At the bottom of the photograph there is a dark coloured ink inscription that reads, "James Stewart Richmond ON." James Stewart was the father of Sefton Stewart, Canadian Expeditionary Force member who served from 1916-1918 during the First World War. The family resided in Richmond, Ontario.Context
