One black and white photograph of three male figures, two seated on a horse drawn funeral hearse, and one man standing at the front of the team of horses. One of the drivers is presumed to be James Stewart who was an undertaker by profession. The donor identified the man standing on the road as George Stewart. The photograph was taken in the winter with snow covering the ground, and the horse drawn hearse using sleigh skis. The three men are dressed in winter clothes with dark coloured long jackets and winter hats. The hearse is pulled by two black horses and there is a street scene in the background with one white frame house visible on the right side of the photo. The male figure on the road has a tobacco pipe held in his mouth.
James Stewart was the father of George and Sefton Stewart. Sefton was a Canadian Expeditionary Force member who served from 1916-1918 during the First World War. The family resided in Richmond, Ontario.Context
