Description

This object is a framed photographic print enclosure of the late Queen Elizabeth II. The frame is gold in colour and features a glass protective layer and a tan coloured mat. The mat leaves a small amount of white border showing from the underlying print. The back of the frame enclosure is covered by a tan coloured backing paper with horizontal striations. There are two anchor points on both sides of the back of the frame roughly two thirds up the frame. A metallic wire spans across both anchor points. The image on the front depicts Queen Elizabeth II in 1966. She is seated on a throne, at a left oblique angle facing the camera-her left hand on the armrest of the throne. The Queen is wearing a white dress, a white tiara, a blue sash, and she is adorned with necklaces, earrings, and three meritorious order badges on the sash. The throne is red and velvet in texture. The Royal Seal of Elizabeth II is visible on the backrest of the throne. There are two inscriptions on the bottom of the image on the front, appearing below the primary image but above the mat. These are both printed and rendered in blue ink in all capital letters. At the bottom left it reads "LITHOTONE WALKER PRESS PARIS, CANADA". The word Lithotone is highly stylized. At bottom right it reads "PORTRAIT BY KARSH, OTTAWA, FORTHE NATIONAL FILM BOARD OF CANADA".
