Description

Black and white photograph of St. Thomas Anglican Church in Stanley Corners, Ontario on June 26, 1964. The church was struck by lightening and subsequently the roof caught on fire. In this photograph the photographer is standing at the front left side of the church, on the road. The church was a wood frame structure with white wood siding and a metal roof. The photograph shows two ladders placed against the left side of the church, there is one hole in the upper back left side of the roof with a trail of smoke exiting into the air. The bottom edge of the roof has the metal lifted up to expose the wooden frame underneath. The front of the church has a large cloud of smoke around the steeple. There are five individuals facing the church, with backs to the camera, in the foreground and three individuals closer to the church in the background. The Goulbourn Township Hall is visible in the background at the right side of the photograph.
