Black and white photograph of St. Thomas Anglican Church in Stanley Corners, Ontario on June 26, 1964. The church was struck by lightening and subsequently the roof caught on fire. The church was a wood frame structure with white wood siding and a metal roof. The photograph shows the interior of the church when standing at the altar looking towards the entrance. The top left of the image has lathe and wiring from the roof hanging down in the background, the church pews are in place arranged in 10 rows along the right side and three rows are visible on the left. On top of the pews and filling the centre aisle is a large pile of burned debris from the roof that has fallen inside the church. The mixture appears to contain lumber, lathe, plaster, and other structural elements. The church's stained glass windows are visible in place on the right side of the photograph.Photograph Details
