Black and white photograph of St. Thomas Anglican Church in Stanley Corners, Ontario on June 26, 1964. The church was struck by lightening and subsequently the roof caught on fire. In this photograph the photographer is standing inside the church at the entrance looking towards the altar. The church was a wood frame structure with white wood siding and a metal roof. The photograph shows lathe and wiring from the roof hanging down in the foreground, the church pews are in place arranged in eight rows along the right side and six rows are visible on the left. On top of the pews and filling the centre aisle is a large pile of burned debris from the roof that has fallen inside the church. The mixture appears to contain lumber, lathe, plaster, and other structural elements. One of the church's stained glass windows is visible behind the altar. The annex where the alter is located appears to be unscathed with the ceiling intact. Small areas of the main ceiling are visible on the top right and left of the photograph with lathe and roof structure visible.Photograph Details
