Description

This object is a crown patent to William McKay. It is dated May 20, 1824. It concerns a parcel of land designated E1/2 Lot 12 Concession 3. The support is a sheet of cream colored paper. The medium is a black printed ink. The fields have been filled in with a black handwritten ink rendered in cursive. There is an inscription in an unknown blue medium on the back proper left. There is a brown loop of string which passes through the center of the bottom of the page, with a slight bias towards the proper left side. A small piece of brown/red wax is affixed to the end of the string. The words "PROVINCE OF .UPPER CANADA." appear at the top center of the front in a larger font, rendered in a black printed ink, in all capital letters; there are two periods on either side of UPPER CANADA. There is an inscription on the back located near the proper left side in an unknown blue medium. There is a body of text located on the back rendered in a handwritten brown ink near the center with a slight proper left bias. Both inscriptions on the back are perpendicular to the primary body of text on the front.
