Description

From the Hugh Stewart Conn family (former Reeve). Tall metal ice cream mold with lid. The sides have alternating pattern of pointed & rounded ridges to give interest to the shape of the finished dessert. Tapered mold with rounded and angular extrusions. Screw cap at end, wide end has fitted metal cap with handle.

Context

This mould could have been used to shape ice cream or for making steamed pudding. Moulds made of tin, copper and ceramic would have been used to shape desserts like jelly, steamed pudding, cake, and ice cream.
