001.2.32.11Description
This object is an indenture between Jackson Stitt and Daniel Fisher. It is dated August 4, 1848. It concerns a plot of land designated E1/2 Lot 23 Concession 11. The support is a grey piece of lined paper; the lines are significantly faded. The medium is a black ink, handwritten, rendered in a unique cursive font. An inscription appears on the title page rendered in pencil outlining what appears to be mathematical calculations. The title page appears on the front proper top right quadrant, perpendicular to the primary text as this object was intended to be folded into a brochure form for transport and storage. The words "This Indenture" appear in a slightly larger font at the top of the proper left half of the front. There is a seal on the proper bottom left quadrant of the back, near the center margin. The seal takes the form of a yellowed square piece of paper, adhered to the page with an unknown adhesive; this is oriented with the corners pointed towards the top and bottom of the page.Context
This object is highly significant as it pertains to Jackson Stitt who served as a postmaster and founding member of the eponymous community of Stittsville.
