Description

This object is an indenture between Jackson Stitt and Edward B. It is folded into a brochure form. The support is a tan colored paper. The medium is a printed black ink. The fields are filled in by hand with a handwritten black ink. The inscription on the front is rendered in pencil. The words "This Indenture," appear on the back in a large decorative font, rendered in a printed black ink; the decoration of this script creates a small white space around the letters contained by another black line. The top edge of the unfolded document is scalloped, this is visible on the back of this object above the phrase "This Indenture".

Context

This object is highly significant as it pertains to Jackson Stitt who served as a postmaster and founding member of the eponymous community of Stittsville. This is historically significant as it provides information about a prominent family which was instrumental in the settlement of the Goulbourn area.
