Description
This object is an indenture between Robert Faulkner and Andrew Faulkner for the sum of 50 pounds. It is dated to August 1844. It concerns a parcel of land designated W1/2 of S(W or E)1/2 Lot 29 Concession 8. The support is a tan piece of paper that has been repaired with a clear adhesive tape; the paper under the tape has turned a darker shade of yellow brown. The medium is a black printed ink. The fields have been filled in with a black handwritten ink, rendered in cursive. There is a body of text in the proper bottom right corner of the front which is perpendicular to the primary body of text. The title "THIS INDENTURE" appears in all capital letters, in a larger font, at the top of the front with a bias towards the proper right side. There are two seals located at the proper bottom left corner of the front. These are comprised of a rhombus shaped piece of paper adhered onto a circular red substance underneath; the long points of the rhombuses point towards the top and bottom of the page. The paper of the seals have been imprinted onto the red circular substance with a circular imprint, comprised of many small holes. The top of the bottom seal is beginning to delaminate.
The back of the page contains a block of text located upside-down in relation to the primary body of text; this is located on the proper left half of the page. The title page appears in the proper bottom left corner of the back; it is upside down in relation to the primary body of text on the front. There is a small amount of an unknown red substance on the right half of the top seal stain located at the proper bottom left corner.
