Description

This object is a mortgage between Jackson Stitt and Daniel Fisher. A date is present, but is mostly illegible. The support is a tan colored piece of paper which has been folded into a brochure shape. The medium is a faded brown handwritten ink, rendered in cursive. An edge of the page, when unfolded, is scalloped; this is visible at the bottom of the front while in its folded state. At the top of the front there are the words "Dated 16th July".

Context

This object is highly significant as it pertains to Jackson Stitt who served as a postmaster and founding member of the eponymous community of Stittsville. This is historically significant as it provides information about a prominent family which was instrumental in the settlement of the Goulbourn area.
