Metal tin with hinged lid. Gold colour with green, painted-on label reading "Rowntree's "Clear" Gums, 1/4 lb net, Registered Rowntree Co Ltd York, England". The "Clear Gums", first produced in 1879, later became known as "Fruit Gums". First sold only through chemists, the packaging was changed to a tube form in 1925 and became more widely available.
