Jack MacKenzieContext
In 1999 former Goulbourn Township resident, Jack Mackenzie put Goulbourn Township and Canada Post on the map at the top of the world. He became the World’s Oldest Person at the age of 77 years 10 months and 13 days to ski to the North Pole as part of an expedition to celebrate the International Year of Older Persons. He pulled three flags from his pack, the first was for Canada Post, the second celebrated the International Year of Older Persons, and the third was this Goulbourn Township flag for the place he called home.
The Canada Post flag that travelled with MacKenzie to the North Pole was one of a kind. It had the postal code HOH OHO written on it and represented the official Canada Post office to Santa at the North Pole.Collection
