Description
Metal lapel pin in recognition of the 60th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Air Force. Front of the pin is the Royal Canadian Air Force badge which has "60th" added to the centre to recognize the anniversary year. The badge is made up of a central blue circle which has a smaller light blue circle in the middle. Horizontally across both circles is a gold metallic eagle figure, the outer dark blue circle has "ARDUA AD" written at the top and "ASTRA - PER" written across the bottom. Per ardua ad astra is a Latin phrase meaning "through adversity to the stars" or "through struggle to the stars" that is the official motto of the Royal Air Force and other Commonwealth air forces such as the Royal Canadian Air Force. Above the eagle is written "60th". Above the central circle is a Royal Crown, the inner portions are red and metal details are a golden metallic colour. The bottom of the pin has a decorative ribbon design also in dark blue, the ribbon reads, "Royal Canadian Air Force."
