Description
Black and white photograph of St. Thomas Anglican Church in Stanley Corners, Ontario on June 26, 1964. The church was struck by lightening and subsequently the roof caught on fire. In this photograph the photographer is standing at the right side of the church, on the grass. The church was a wood frame structure with white wood siding and a metal roof. The photograph shows one ladder placed against the right side of the church along with what appears to be a fence panel or gate being used as a ladder. The bottom edge of the roof has the metal lifted up in several locations to expose the wooden frame underneath. There are three individuals in the foreground one is a firefighter. There are two individuals including one holding a hose on the roof and one mid metal panel holding a hose in the background. There is a small amount of debris scattered on the grass beside the church and the water hoses being used to extinguish the fire are also placed on the ground.
