Louis Fleischer Memorial Fishing Pier at Grand Hotel, Point Clear, ALDescription
Verbiage on the plaque: "On June 14, 1994, the Grand Hotel's fishing pier was dedicated to the memory of Louis Fleischer.
For over 25 years Mr. and Mrs. Fleischer came to the Grand Hotel several times each year to enjoy the resort and relax from the hard work of their dry goods store in Shaw, Mississippi. During each stay with us, Louis would spend every morning and afternoon fishing from the pier. His wife, Fan Joe would join him every day for lunch on the pier and they they would dine in the Grand Dining Room each evening enjoying the fish that Louis had caught during the day.
After a short illness in 1986, Louis passed away in Greenville, Mississippi where they had moved several month before to retire. Fan Joe continues to visit the Grand Hotel several times a year and is truly one of our most beloved guests. This dedication is a tribute to a wonderful man and a loving husband ... he will always be missed by the staff of our resort."
Note: Mrs. Fleischer passed away in March of 2009. Even at the age of 93, shortly before her death, she shared her fond memories of the Grand Hotel, insisting she was vacationing at the resort and would return home soon!Create Date
