Description

The "new" Grand Hotel, which opened in the spring of 1941, was designed with three wings. This view is from the end room of the East Wing, allowing a view of the Grand Fishing Pier and the beach. Circa mid-1950's. This is most likely the room used by Col. Matthew Thompson when he was the commanding officer of "Operation Ivory Soap" during WWII.
