Grand Hotel wharf early 1900's

Name/Title

Grand Hotel wharf early 1900's

Description

Arrival at Point Clear was primarily by bay boat (steamer); property owners provided their own wharf to accommodate docking. As some swim in the shallow waters of Mobile Bay, others stroll on the wharf in their turn-of-the-century attire. Separate "bathing" areas and bath houses were provided for men and women. The two-story Point Clear Hotel is on shore to the left of the wharf in this photo.
