Grand Hotel II was a long two-story wooden structure with galleries on the first and second floor. The building faced almost due south on Mobile Bay's Great Point Clear; it was juxtaposed to take full advantage of the southerly breezes from the Gulf of Mexico, only 19 miles SW of Point Clear.
