Description

Inside the Cumberland Presbyterian Church formerly located on High Street in Waynesburg, Greene County, Pennsylvania. The church was built in 1868, when it replaced the original "Church on the Hill" that had been near Wayne Street in the Monument Park area. In 1906, the Cumberland Presbyterian and Presbyterian congregations of Waynesburg merged to form the First Presbyterian Church. The CP Church on High Street was torn down in 1941. Original, candid.

The William E. S. Fletcher Series photographs were taken by their namesake and given to Wilma "Billie" (Spitznogle) Guthrie, an employee from 1935-1947 in his photography studio at the Long Building on High Street in Waynesburg, Greene County, Pennsylvania. Wilma donated the photographs to the Cornerstone Genealogical Society (144 E. Greene St., PO Box 547; Waynesburg, Pennsylvania 15370) in 2009.
