Intersection at High and Morgan Streets (looking West) in Waynesburg, Greene County, Pennsylvania.
The Farmers & Drovers Bank, featured prominently in this photograph, was the center of a much-publicized financial scandal that drastically negatively influenced the business future of Waynesburg and Greene County. Farmers & Drovers was organized as a State Bank in 1835 and as a National Bank in 1865, but closed its doors a failure in 1906. Repurposed as the Borough Building, the structure still stands and currently houses the Borough Police Station.
The building to the right across the street was known as the Fisher Building, ultimately being the location of the American National Bank of Waynesburg with offices opening in April 1906. The Long Building is now located at this site.Collection
