Sayers Corner and the Greene County Courthouse at the corner of Church and High Streets in Waynesburg, Greene County, Pennsylvania. The current Greene County Courthouse, seen in this photograph, was built 1850-51. It was the second courthouse on this site, having replaced a brick building built circa 1800. This courthouse is the third overall for Greene County, the first having been a log cabin built 1797, that still stands on Greene Street and as of 2015 is home to the Cornerstone Genealogical Society.
There is obvious work being done on the courthouse building at this time. We considered whether or not it could be under construction and decided that the building and yard look worn, not brand new. This looks like a renovation in the mid-1870s.
