2011.2.113Description
Dated 1925. Ross Drug Store at its original location in the Silveus Building on High Street in Waynesburg, Greene County, Pennsylvania. This building neighbored the Grossman Building, which was destroyed in the Downey House fire on 23 December 1925. When the remains of the Grossman Building were being torn down following the fire, its west wall collapsed onto the Silveus Building, damaging it so severely that it had to be torn down and rebuilt. A sign on the wreckage alerts patrons that Jesse Lazear Ross, the store's proprietor, could be found at the offices of his son in law William K. Reed, in room 202 of the Citizens National Bank building on the northwest corner of High and Washington Streets.
