The Huffman-Rush series photographs all relate back to common ancestors Joseph Huffman and Sarah Hunt of Greene County, Pennsylvania. Though the exact ownership history is unknown, the photographs have been kept together. In 2011, Elaine Sterne-Arthur sent the original cabinet card images to Ginny Rockenhauser as a random act of genealogical kindness. Ginny is a great-granddaughter of Spencer Blatchley Huffman who was a son of Joseph Huffman and Sarah Hunt. In 2019, Ginny consulted her cousin Helen Durbin regarding the best way to provide family members access to the pictures. They decided to pass the photographs to Candice Buchanan, fourth-great-granddaughter of Sarah Ann (Huffman) Rush who was also a daughter of Joseph Huffman and Sarah Hunt. Two photographs of Sarah are included in the collection. Accordingly, Candice shared the photographs with the the Greene Connections: Greene County, Pennsylvania Archives Project in 2019.
