Though the photo notes in a more modern ink and hand, "Aunt Nelle / Not Born," it seems likely that she had been born and is just not pictured. The Raymond Stockdale Collection was passed from Walter Ray Stockdale [1888-1965] and his wife, Nellie Grace Cumberledge [1892-1960], to their son, Raymond Jackson Stockdale Sr. [1918-1980], and his wife, Florence Bolton McCarthy, to their son, Raymond Stockdale Jr., who owned and shared the collection with the Greene Connections: Greene County, Pennsylvania Archives Project in 2004.
