Description

Mary Elizabeth (Call) Morris [1858-1905]. Mary Elizabeth was the oldest daughter of James Call Jr. and Martha Van Wey, of Oak Forest. She was a schoolteacher for two terms before she married Asa W. Morris, September 20, 1879. In October of that year, she and Asa moved to Yolo County, California, where Asa became a world-renowned Holstein cattle breeder. They had five children: Frank Leslie Morris, Charles Call Morris, Harry Van Wey Morris, Asa James Morris, and Zella May Morris. Mary was a devoted member of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union in Yolo County. She passed away in December, 1905. Original, no photographer listed.
