Postmarked 4 January 1909, Birmingham, Alabama. This postcard was mailed to Robert Lawrence Throckmorton [1889-1964] of Deer Lick, Greene County, Pennsylvania, by his first cousin Mary (Davis) Wiltshire [1888-1917], daughter of his aunt Clara Louisa "Carrie" (Throckmorton) Davis [1861-1950]. The Davis family lived in Birmingham, Alabama. Based on the message, it seems likely that Throckmorton relatives came to the Davis home for a visit. Among the visitors were Catherine (Throckmorton) Hopkins [1845-1909], referred to as "Aunt Kate," who died later that year on 29 December 1909, at her home in Ohio. Based on the message, it sounds as though her health had already been declining.
The message on the postcard reads, "Dear cousin, This is just a few of your relations and they are all enjoying themselves. Aunt Kate is [gaining ?] so fast. She takes long walks now. I will send you postcards from Pensacola. We are going next Tuesday. Mary."

The Throckmorton Series was passed from Robert Lawrence Throckmorton Sr. [1889-1964] and his wife, Ella May (Watson) Throckmorton [1893-1988], to their daughter, Katherine Jane (Throckmorton) Toothman [1919-2012], to her son, Glenn Jacob Roy Thornton Toothman III, who owned and shared the items with the Greene Connections: Greene County, Pennsylvania Archives Project between 2016 and 2022.
