Scope and Content

Peter Brown Family Bible, The Holy Bible Containing the Old and New Testaments: Translated Out of the Original Tongues; and with the Former Translations Diligently Compared and Revised, (Philadelphia: Printed for the Bible Society by the American Sunday School Union, No. 146 Chestnut Street, 1828). The Bible was most likely passed from Peter Brown and his wife, Mary Reese [1788-1848], to their daughter Catherine (Brown) Morris [1823-1885] and her husband, Robert Morris [1816-1891], to their daughter Evaline Florence Morris [1861-1902] and her husband, George Harvey Elms [1863-1947], to their daughter Sarah Virginia (Elms) Simpson [1895-1934] and her husband, Frederic Wheeler Simpson [1894-1952], to their daughter Eva Mae (Simpson) Grim who, with her niece Cicely Stewart-Kunsman, owned and shared the Bible pages with the Greene Connections: Greene County, Pennsylvania Archives Project between in 2006.
