The Toothman-Hoult Series probably began with Martha Jane (Hoult) Toothman [1850-1931], wife of Thornton Jacob Toothman [1847-1896], and daughter of John Cunningham Hoult and Susanna Bare. Martha’s photographs likely passed to her daughter, Margaret Lee (Toothman) Wilson [1882-1970] and her husband, Fred Martin Wilson [1877-1967], who never had children and consequently passed the photographs to Margaret’s grandnephew Glenn Jacob Roy Thornton Toothman Jr. [1920-2001] and his wife, Katherine Jane (Throckmorton) Toothman who owned and shared the photographs with the Greene Connections: Greene County, Pennsylvania Archives Project in 2005.
