Description

Raymond Stockdale and Mary Etta (Williams) Stockdale family. [Left-Right]: BACK - Samuel Franklin Stockdale [1881-1973], Layton Ross Stockdale [1883-1942], John Thomas Stockdale [1885-1970], Walter Ray Stockdale [1888-1965]; FRONT - David C. Stockdale [1897-1973], Thomas Robert Stockdale [1851-1916], Mary Etta (Williams) Stockdale [1861-1942], Elizabeth B. (Stockdale) Pethtel [1887-1938], Carrie M. Stockdale [1895-1926]. Though the photo notes in a more modern ink and hand, "Aunt Nelle / Not Born," it seems likely that she had been born and is just not pictured. Nelle was born in 1899, the ages of her older siblings in this photo seem too advanced to precede her birth. Original, professional photograph from F. M. Sellers, Waynesburg, Pa.
