Robert Quillen (1887–1948), often called “the Sage of Fountain Inn,” was a nationally syndicated columnist, editor, and humorist who gained fame for his insightful and witty commentary on everyday life. Born in Kansas, he eventually settled in Fountain Inn, South Carolina, where he founded the Fountain Inn Tribune. Despite initial struggles, his syndicated writings reached hundreds of newspapers worldwide. He was known for his sharp honesty, deep compassion, and vivid characters like “Aunt Het.” A generous benefactor, he supported his community during the Great Depression.
