The Red BollingsEntry/Object ID
RG134-11-03Description
The "Red Bollings," descendants of Pocahontas and John Rolfe, trace their lineage through their granddaughter Jane Rolfe and her son John Bolling. This family line includes prominent early Americans, such as Robert Bolling and his descendants who settled in Virginia and South Carolina. Samuel Bolling moved to South Carolina post-Revolutionary War, establishing a prosperous lineage including Tully and Thaddeus Bolling of Tullyton Plantation. Thaddeus expanded business interests across the South but suffered family tragedies. The family played key roles in local society, education, and agriculture. By the late 19th century, the Bolling name had faded from the Greenville area.Collection
