Frank and Joseph Cunningham, brothers from Anderson, South Carolina, were influential architects in early 20th-century Greenville. Educated at Clemson, they formed Cunningham & Cunningham in 1908, designing landmark residences, churches, schools, and commercial buildings across the Upstate. Notable works include the Imperial Hotel, Oakland Avenue School, Trinity Lutheran Church, and many elegant homes in Greenville. Their architectural style ranged from Tudor and Classical Revival to Gothic. Frank died in 1928, but Joseph continued the firm’s legacy until 1956. Their contributions shaped Greenville’s built environment, leaving a rich architectural heritage that still defines much of the city’s historical character today.Collection
