This photo depicts the donor's mother, Anne Polakoff Drevno as a bridesmaid at the 1924 wedding of Betty Sopkin and William Torme in Chicago, IL. The donor said her mother was apprehensive about asking her father (Mr. Polakoff) for $50.00 to buy this dress but he never batted an eye. Mr. Polakoff and Betty Sopkin's father came to Shelbyville later to start Shelby Mfg. William and Betty Torme are the parents of Mel Torme, a noted jazz performer.Collection
