A muzzle loading double-barreled shot gun with two nipples and two triggers. Butt and stock apear to be walnut. Sock just behind trigger guard is cut in a small diamond pattern. Same pattern repeated in front of trigger guard in area where other hand would have grasped it. Has a brass bead on top near muzzle for sight. Metal plates on stock decorated in a floral pattern. Has wood ramrod. Just under the right breech the metal plate is engraved: "Manton" and metal ridge between the barrels is engraved: "Manton London Best Laminated Steel". According to donor, Oscar Gatewood was a Civil War Veteran Private, Co. A 16th Regiment and he operated a tavern in the Keck House.
