A military looking adjustable belt of black leather; it fastens on the left, back of brass buckle has a clip soldered on which slips into a piece of stamped metal whch is stitched into other end of belt. Belt buckle has standard American eagle surrounded on two sides by a wreath, in mouth is banner reading "D PLURIBUS UNUM" and 13 stars in background. Side clasp is stamped what looks to be "116"
"Belt, sash, and sword were property of the late James E McGuire, Capt. of Co. F. 51 Vol Inft during the Civil War. Regiment was organized in 1862. Ciommanded by Col. A.D. Straight hero of Libby Prison. Presented to the Historical Society by R. W. Harrison (See page 105 of Chadwick's History of Shelby Co.)Collection
