Lap robe; back side is a coarse weave material that looks like burlap and feels like wool, it is a sort of green color; the front side is leather tht has been tanned with the hair still on; hair that is remaining is black; several seams where the pieces of leather were sewn together; there is an edging between the front and back that is made of green felt and is cut in a scallop pattern
Lap robes were used in horse drawn vehicles and early automobiles to help keep occupants warm on winter drives; donor found this item on a farm he purchased from Ham Gray, and later gave to a board member to bring to museumCollection
