Block, ShavingDescription
2 part device; lower part is bloc k of wood which has a piece of black foam rubber glued to it, second piece is another block of wood that has been cut on a band saw so that wood removed creates an open arch in the middle; 2 piece are joined by wood scres; wher the arch is both the lower and upper piece on both sides have elliptical gouges to improve grip.
Special Function: Sanding blocks (also sometimes referred to as sanding dogs) were used to hold sandpaper while sand9ing wood; this one worked by cutting sandpaper to sidth but a little longer than the block; the extra length was broughjt up over the ends of the block and inserted between the 2 sections, then the wood scres screwed down to create enought pressure to hold the sandpaper in place.Collection
