Glass jar; 3" diameter at base, has squat bulge in middle and 1 1/2" diameter at top; pale blue color; bulge section has relief flower and vine pattern against a stippled background; lid fit over top opening, it is a darker blue.Context
A paper label giving instructions for "Filling A Perfume Jar" is attached to the bottom of the jar. It has since been removed or faded away. From what can be understood from the directions, the jar was to be filled with flower petals and spices. Removing the lid allowed the mixture to freshen the room. A paper label on the bottom was also read: John Davis & Co., Manfs., Detroit, Mich.Collection
