On back in blue ink: "Early bowling alley." An exhibit card is available. It reads, "Picture shows an early bowling alley in Shelbyville. Location is unknown. According to Shelby County, Indiana History & Families, Volume 1, during the Great Depression, The Sexton Recreation Alley (Also known as the Shelby Recreation Alleys) at 24 West Franklin and St. Joseph Bowling Alley at 131 E. Broadway were popular hangouts."
