Tube shaped box made from a thin pasteboard material; box is red with off-white lettering; box opens by means of 2 end flaps and top panel has open slot that reveals 7 small balls of mercerized cotton; lettering on top panel reads "DARN-U-RUN/ MERCERIZED MENDING COTTON"; side panels read "SEVEN 12 1/2 yard balls/ of 1 and 2 ply Mercerized Mending Cotton"; also maker's info; end flaps read "ARTICLE/ 132"; bottom flap is plain Printed on 2 side panels is "Manufactured by DEXTER MILLS, INC./ ELGIN, ILL,. U.S.A." Donor found at a rummage sale and bought as gift for museum
