White pasteboard box, made so that one end of the lid flips up as if on a hinge; one side flap of the part that lifts reads "Superior/ Make", other side flap reads "Made for/ FINE CUSTOM/ Trade" and the end flap has a shield like decoration on left and on right is "No._____/ Line_____/ Col_____"; paper label on top reads "THE/ BEST/ MATERIAL/ AND IN/ THE MOST/ APPROVED/ MANNER"; box is filled with shank buttons that are covered with a black ribbed fabric Donor found at a rummage sale and bought as a gift for museum
