Red cast iron box has a peaked roof on it; under peak on front is a hand grasping lightning bolts and "Reg. US Pat Off"; there is a hinged door w/ embossed lettering "For Fire/Break Glass/Open Door/PullHandle Down Once Let Go/18"; to left side of door is another peaked roof box protecting opening latch; 2nd box inside has lettering on its door "Pull Handle Down Once Let Go" has white handle sticking through door; inside is alarm apparatus and signaling device.
Bottom of door embossed "The Gamewell Co. New York:
System designed so that once triggered it telegraphed an alarm to the fire dept; each box had a number and when this came, firemen knew approximate area of fire; before the telephone this was a very fast & efficient system.Use
