A: Original sepia photographic print that depicts what appears to be a railroad bridge made of heavy timber and supported on 3 stone structures; bridge spans a ravine or river bed; 29 men visible on top of bridge, other men standing on 2nd row of support timbers and group of men plus 2 horses at base of bridge; right foreground has a group of men standing, 2 have officer's shoulder patches; left foreground has squad of men at shoulder arms, some fixed bayonets; also visible is a tent. Back of mount has pencil inscription: "Photographed by Abraham Peaslee/son of William Jenkins Peaslee". Inscribed on mount in pencil: "Bridge over Elk River, rebuilt in 8 days by 1st Mich. Engineers length of bridge 500 feet".
