Calling cardDescription
Ham radio calling card used by a man named Wilbur L. Keaton of Morristown, IN. Calling cards were used as a collecting item for people who often used the ham radio, those people would contact people in different locations and would right down their information. Basically showing proof that they contacted this person. They would later trade these cards with the person they contacted via mail, it was used to create another form of communication between the radio users.
Front center has an illustration of a man that resembles the globe. Written through the center is W9AUN which would be the name of the frequency that Keaton used. In the left corner there are blanks that someone would use to fill in the information provided by the other person including time and date that they first made the contact. This card was issued in the forties because there is a place to put the year and the blank reads, "194____" to provide space for the last number of the year. Right corner has information to place to type of radio or "rig" and the type of receiver used by the other person.
Has some markings and some discoloration on the card but was protected by a small plastic bag.Collection
